House Washing in Botany

House washing, roofs, gutters and driveways in Botany.

A lot of Botany Downs, Dannemora and the streets around the town centre went up in the 1990s and early 2000s. That was the era of monolithic plaster cladding, along with plenty of brick-and-tile homes. Both are fine to wash, but plaster needs a careful approach.

Washing plaster the right way

Plaster homes from this period are often the ones owners worry about most, and fair enough. Water forced into a crack or an unsealed joint can end up where it shouldn't. So we don't point a water blaster at plaster. We use a soft wash: low pressure, with a cleaning solution that breaks down the mould and dirt, then a gentle rinse.

It's worth doing for more than looks. Washing lets you spot hairline cracks, failing sealant around windows and blocked drainage gaps at the bottom of the cladding while they're still small jobs. We'll point out anything we notice, but we're cleaners, not building inspectors.

Other outside jobs

  • Brick and tile homes: a house wash for the brick, and roof cleaning or treatment for concrete tiles with lichen.
  • Gutters: cleared out, especially on homes near the reserves and walkways with big trees.
  • Concrete: driveways, paths and pool surrounds water blasted.
  • Fences: painted and timber fences washed, with the pressure adjusted for the material.
  • Commercial: shops, offices and units around Botany and the East Tāmaki business area, with commercial building washes scheduled to suit you.

Botany FAQ

Is it safe to wash a monolithic plaster house? Yes, if it's done at low pressure. That's how we wash plaster. Let us know if you already know of any cracks or repairs.
