Part of our house wash & exterior services in Wellington.
Wellington is a city of steps, steep drives and paths that never see the sun. Add the damp and you get a green, slippery film that's a hazard for anyone walking on it, especially in winter.
A pressure wash gets rid of it.
What we clean
- driveways, including steep ones
- paths and steps
- patios and courtyards
- pavers and exposed aggregate
- retaining walls
- decks (at the right pressure, see deck washing)
Getting it clean without the damage
High pressure in the wrong hands etches concrete, leaves stripes, and blows the sand out from between pavers. We match the pressure and nozzle to the surface and work evenly across it.
Shady, damp spots
The south side of the house, steps under trees, and paths beside a bank grow algae the fastest. After a clean they'll stay good for a while, but in Wellington they will come back. Plenty of people book these spots in once a year before winter.
Pressure washing or soft washing?
Concrete and pavers can take the pressure. Paint, plaster, timber cladding and roofs can't, so they get a soft wash. We'll use the right one for each part of the property.

Pressure washing questions
What surfaces can be pressure washed?
Tough, unpainted surfaces like concrete, brick, asphalt and stone are best. Painted surfaces can be done, but we test a small area first to make sure the paint won't chip. Houses themselves usually get a soft wash instead.
How often should I get my driveway and paths water blasted?
Every 1 to 2 years suits most homes. Shaded paths and steps on Wellington's hills that hardly see the sun go green faster, so they might need it more often.
My front steps get slippery every winter. Can you sort them out?
Yes. Steep paths and steps that sit in shade all winter grow a slick layer of moss and algae, and Wellington has no shortage of them. A water blast takes them back to clean concrete, and it's best done before winter sets in.
Can I pressure wash my roof?
Only if it's concrete tile or metal. Softer roofing like shingles can be lifted or damaged by high pressure. If you're not sure what you've got, ask us before you get the water blaster out.
Will pressure washing damage my home?
It can when it's done badly, which is why DIY jobs often end with chipped paint or water behind the cladding. We match the pressure to the surface and test anything painted first.
How much does water blasting cost in Wellington?
It depends on the size of the area, the surface, how dirty it is and how easy it is to get the gear in. We cover Wellington city, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and Porirua, so get in touch for a quote.
