Johnsonville is changing quickly. Older 50s and 60s homes on big sections are sharing streets with new townhouses, and the newer suburbs around it, such as Churton Park, Grenada and parts of Newlands, have mostly been built from the 90s on. It's a hilly area, the southerly comes straight through, and many homes are rentals.

Townhouses and infill. Newer two- and three-storey townhouses usually have fibre-cement, plaster or metal cladding with aluminium joinery. Older homes on the hill. Weatherboard and brick homes facing south pick up green on the walls and moss on the roof. We soft wash the house, and clean or treat the roof.
Gutters. With the wind here, leaves and debris end up in gutters even if there are no trees right next to the house.
